Onto the next salon on the rise on Merrick Road, I came across Maria Cristina Beauty Salon where their only goal is to pamper you from the moment you walk in until you leave.

This  new salon is a full service salon that includes much more than just hair services. They offer waxing, facial, and single eye lashes as well. Their hair services range from color, treatments, haircuts, highlights, and extensions.

The thing that sets apart this salon from it's competitors is it's unique environment. At Maria's, the atmosphere is set up in a unique, sophisticated and friendly environment. "It's a happy environment." said Nicole Alarcon. 

The seating  area is set in the form of a casual living area where the seats face each other which is great for optimizing on good conversation with other customers.

Also as a courtesy free tea and coffee is offered while you are waiting. The massive size of this location is a plus especially on busy days. The extra space is greatly appreciated when there might be a possible crowd. "It gets so busy in here on Saturday's" said Maria.

They strive to stay true to their slogan no matter what  "Let us take care of your beauty until you feel stress free" while they attend to your many needs.

In the heart of Merrick there is a small piece of joy that is tucked away like a secret treasure.

Joi Salon is that special place to be. Here you will have the experience of that chic industrial Manhattan space that only  true New Yorkers can appreciate.

This salon is known for their joyful atmosphere and attitudes. The stylist here are independently operated, which means according to each stylist the prices may vary. The owner Ms. Charmaine allowed us the opportunity to see some of her work.

She does a little of everything from wash and sets to  lace fronts( hair unit with a lace base to give the natural effect for the top of your hair) and weaves. " Hair is my passion, it's what I enjoy." Said Charmaine .

Her styles speaks for themselves but her clients have no problem expressing how much they agree.

" I travel 5 hours both ways to let her do my hair, she's such a good stylist." Said Terri Griffith, long time client.

Let's take a short trip across sunrise highway and stop at Chez Yole Salon for a cute and sassy style. I had the wonderful opportunity to meet with one of the managers Ms. Jacque and see just exactly what this fine establishment has to offer.

First and foremost it's all about the hair. The owner, Ms. Mari Joe specializes in the the general styles such as wash and sets (shampoo and rollers to keep hair bouncy) and to more detailed styles such as braids or weaves (sewn or glue bonded  hair extensions).

Even her staff admires her craftsmanship and work ethic. Also in her role as boss she excels. "She's the nicest boss I've ever had". Said Janisse Aracena her assistant and makeup artist, whom also stated how she loves the simplicity and comfort that Ms. Joe provides in the atmosphere.

I even got in on the fun and let Janisse give me a makeup makeover while here.

Not all the time there will be a stylist that works in a specific salon. For example some of the best talents are constantly on the move. Another Hairstylist that is  on the move and on the rise is Salena Fields.
She has been working in the cosmetology business for over 20 years.

She was previous owner of House of Impressions Hair Studio and currently looking to have another salon. Keep her name in mind and be on the look out for her next permanent location.

She specializes in many different styles from short hair styles , weaves,extensions,  wig caps, ponytails, and relaxers.

Salena is an amazing stylist who I have had the pleasure to know for about the last 5 years of my life. Her work speaks for itself . For the many years I've worked for her and witnessed the smiles she has brought to the faces of the women that walk through her doors, I can tell you first hand as a Stylist she is one of the best that there is around..
